There is a terrific Underground Railroad museum in Cincinnati. Syd took her students there. It's roughly where Margaret Garner ("the Modern Medea") was trying to cross to safety, so there's a monument on (I believe) the Kentucky side of the river.

There are certainly important parallels to note. Ohio fought to extradite Garner, since a due process trial for murder was better than being lost in the night and fog of the slaveholding South.

I mean, that's all well and good, and all, but...have you considered the Huntington West Virginia Hot Dog Trail?

This is excellent news about the Cincinnati museum (and it makes so much sense because that's the big crossing from KY to OH (Eliza in Uncle Tom's Cabin, etc). AND I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to do the hot dog pilgrimage of Huntington!!! Is it only for this year, or ongoing?

Ongoing! But somehow it has taken me more than a year to get through only half the trail. Come visit anytime.

Have you read Colson Whitehead's "The Underground Railroad?"

I have not! I've read Nickel Boys (but haven't seen the movie) and John Henry Days--he's great, but I can't keep up with him... will definitely get UR. I'm also going to do another water route in Maryland from Linchester Mill down the Chaptank to Chesapeake Bay. It's all Quaker heroes, all the time...
